THE GRIM REALITY
In loving memory of Simotua a brave orphan elephant who lost his fight against horrific injuries sustained by poachers who also slaughtered his family. (Approximately 55 African elephants are killed by poachers every day). The spear wound on his head was healing well, but he finally succumbed to the snare wound on his right leg which worsened after months of treatment. Photo credit: DSWT
