Illustration & Design
With
15 years experience working in the Design and Illustration industry
I have many clients (see below for a list) in advertising, publishing
and business. My work regularly appears in books and magazines in the
UK & abroad and is in private collections in Australia, France,
Ireland, Italy, Trinidad, U.K. & the U.S.A.
I
am a member of the British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM) and
The Association of Illustrators (AOI). Today I work equally across all
three disciplines of Graphic Design, Illustration and Mosaic. I undertake
many commissions for publishing companies, businesses and individuals
on any subject required. I also exhibit work on a regular basis.
Portraits
My most recent works
have been a series of portraits for publication and private commissions
from life size mosaic portraits to handmade paper illustrations. Subjects
include; Michael Faraday, Sir Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Princess
Diana, Queen Elizabeth I & II, Queen Victoria, Henry VIII, Gordon
Brown, Sir Nigel Lawson, Sir Terry Leahy, Sir Martin Sorrell, Lord Browne
and numerous other politicians, central European bankers and private
portrait commissions.
Mosaic
I am a professional
mosaic artist and a member of BAMM (British Association for Modern Mosaic).
Examples of my mosaic work have been published in The Complete Mosaic
Handbook and also The Art of Mosaic (both Quintet Publishing). I specialise
in portraiture in this medium which demands a huge investment of time
but the end result is a dramatic combination of ancient and modern techniques
and a contemporary work of art which is steeped in tradition.
Mosaic is an ancient art & has a rich history dating back to the
third century BC, from the Greeks, Romans and Byzantine mosaics, to
the Art Nouveau movement and is now enjoying a huge renaissance in the
21st Century. Mosaics are at once a functional form and a decorative
art making them both versatile and striking. The medium of Mosaic has
the added advantage of longevity above other art forms due to its enduring
physical properties. This is borne out by the many beautiful examples
which still survive today from the distant past. In

Me
I am very flexible
in my approach to completing a commission in any medium or subject.
I will either work from a selection of good quality supplied photographs
or gather my own reference material.
My prices largely depend on the specific nature of the commission. Costs
are assessed according to the requirements of each individual project,
depending upon: materials, size, complexity of design and schedule/lead
